  • Useful Information On How The Use Of Tiles Can Make Your Kitchen Look Bigger!

Posted on February 8th, 2010 admin No comments

Many modern kitchens are exceptionally small, with very limited space.  The principles of using natural techniques to make a room look bigger, through careful choice of tiling are explored in this article to help transform even the tiniest kitchen into one that feels much bigger.

Many people design their kitchens with painstaking precision.  They install the latest gadgets they like. The most stylish and modern lighting is also installed.  The range cooker is just to die for.  Hours are spent deliberating over where to put the fridge, what kind of unit doors they want.Agonising days wondering what kind of handles you should fit on your kitchen units can be spent.  They go to inordinate lengths to ensure that everything is done to make the kitchen seem bigger and lose that small, claustrophobic feel.Choosing tiles in 10 minutes can only end in disaster.

Upon completion of the much-coveted kitchen, they find that they aren’t completely happy with the result and can’t quite understand why. In fact it seems smaller, not bigger.  What went wrong?

The tiles went wrong, that’s what!  Kitchen wall tiles need to be chosen with care and love.  Kitchen tiles may seem like they are the icing on the cake, but they are vitally important. If you want a 'wow' factor to your kitchen then make sure you choose the right tiles; choosing the wrong tile can very often make the room look smaller and make it look a bit haphazard. This is not the look you wanted at all.

Choosing your tiles for your kitchen can be difficult so check out the basic principles.A small kitchen needs light colours.A Spanish kitchen can carry colours that UK kitchens very often cannot; for instance a nice grey can look chic in Spain but in a UK kitchen it will make the kitchen seem much smaller than it actually is.

If your kitchen is not blessed with a good deal of natural light, go for light colours: these will accentuate the natural light and help the kitchen look bigger.

Smaller tiles can help make a small kitchen look bigger as well.Accentuating the smallness of an area can be done by using bigger tiles, so if you want your small kitchen to look larger, then cheat a little bit and create an optical illusion!

Plain tiles are best as patterned tiles close the walls in.The bigger look for the kitchen can also be achieved by using odd patterned tiles to break up the walls. These need to be placed randomly along the wall.Another idea to accentuate the room is to use a mirror to reflect one of the patterned tiles.

So with some consideration and thought, you can use tiles to accentuate natural ways to make space seem bigger and help make your kitchen seem like the palatial space you always dreamed of!
